Canadian based, UK native Anthex has a fascinating musical past. He became obsessed with synthesizers at an early age, following a school concert from a member of the Bee Gee's touring band. Blown away by the multi-synth performance, it led to a deep appreciation of the synth-led bands of the late 80's, and early dance music, years before being old enough to attend a club. He began experimenting with tape-to-tape production using a home hi-fi system, and this inquisitive spirit remains in his music to this day. It was during his clubbing heyday of the late 90's, a time where euphoric trance ruled the dancefloor, that he met and was mentored by one of his synth-pop idols. Although this led to no direct opportunities, he had a captivating insight into the world of pop fame, and turned sharply in the opposite direction; towards the academic world, where he studied modern composers such as Luigi Russolo and John Cage. It's between these disparate poles that Anthex's music now exists. Whilst he has been something of a musical recluse, 2023 finally sees the release of his debut album, Layers Of Time. Recorded over 10 years, the record fuses psychedelic tones, colourful synthesizers, found-sounds and meandering guitar lines. Each track is unique, highlighting the vivid imagination of this sonic storyteller.
