Berend Intelmann is a Berlin-based musician, producer and composer for film music. In September 2023 he releases his first solo album - the soundtrack to the documentary film "Los Cuatro Vientos". In it, director Anna Richard portrays seven women and men from the small Dominican village of Fondo Negro. She shows very sensitively the conflicts and ambivalences of those who emigrated to Europe and the USA to support their families financially at home and those who stayed behind. The film's locations are both the rural homeland of the protagonists, which is often steeped in tradition, as well as large cities such as New York and Madrid, where the atmosphere for the emigrants is often cold and rough. In order to musically emphasize the contrasts in the film, Intelmann primarily used old, analogue synthesizers. He deliberately chose instruments whose sound was as "unfolkloric" as possible, far from trying to use genres typical of the country. Amid the synthesized soundscapes, electronic pulses and arpeggios provide rhythmic support. Despite the composition commission, an album was created that is very close to Intelmann himself. That's why the composer took the liberty after the film's release to further develop, lengthen, shorten, remix individual tracks and occasionally to create new parts "Los Cuatro Vientos (music from the film)" will be released on Quiet Love Records.
