Giannis Mathes is born in Athens. He is a professional music composer and arranger, as well as a vocalist and song writer. He is a graduate of Philippos Nakas Conservatory, holding a degree in Advanced Music Theory. He has studied piano and has taken classical singing lessons. He has also studied Greek Literature at the School of Philosophy of the Athens University. Giannis Mathes has won the 2nd Award for Best Music Composition in Greece, for the song "Heretics" (lyrics by Manos Sagris), in the Onassis Cultural Center Song Competition. Also his song, "Pedi (Child) ", won the 1st award in the New Artists Competition of the 39th River Party Festival, held in Nestorios Kastoria. The award-winning songs were part of “Aniliko”, a twelve- song concept album created by Giannis Mathes (music composition / singing) and Manos Sagris (lyrics / artwork). He has also composed the new song of the leading Greek singer, Alkistis Protopsalti (lyrics by Manos Sagris), as well as the original music for films and theatrical plays.
