Born in a musician’s family, Yaya (Yasmina) Visconti has been playing music since the age of 6, studying classical piano and opera during her school years experimenting with her voice just like as a musician would do with an instrument. She immediately realized that her innate attitude for musical experimentation and sonorities without having any stylistic frontiers would be limiting her talent. This led her to give up her career as a lyric singer and took up performing with her music and lyrics in collaboration with several bands of different kinds of electronic music such as trip hop, new age, house and acid jazz. Taking advantage of her profound knowledge in music and her innate talent in improvisation; since the end of the nineties’ Yasmina has dedicated herself to a new free style, lyrics and melody come up in the very moment she is performing. At the same time, she would spend the summer seasons in Ibiza performing her free style at the most exclusive clubs and resorts in the island such as the Hotel Pacha, Blue Marlin, Ushuaia beach, KM5, Bambuddha and Elements. The Ibiza experience pushed YAYA to start mixing music by herself, DJing and singing bring to life powerful dream-like sets, often gigging with saxophonists, drummers and/or pianists. Currently based in Sicily, YAYA is dedicated to research into the music field, composing, playing and singing the tracks of her new electronic album.
