Susan's Boy is a London based, Yorkshire born, queer artist and musician. I make wonky pop which is born from a mix of my appreciation for both experimental practices and mainstream pop music. I grew up on a balanced musical diet which feeds into my music. Pop produced by the likes of Xenomania and Richard X; avant garde musical artists such as Bjork and Patrick Wolf; the orchestral works of Brahms, Berlioz and Michael Nyman; the queer sounds of the Pet Shop Boys and Hercules and Love Affair; pop goddesses like Kylie, Cher and Britney; the lyricism of Kirsty Maccol, the thump of early 00’s trance, the catchiness of Abba and Boney M. All these things subconsciously sit in my mind as I make music. My debut EP, Checkpoints, was released in 2022 containing an A-side of original songs and a B-side of covers. Checkpoints: Power-Ups was released later in the year containing remixes of each of the A-sides. The etymology of my name is super simple. My Mum's called Susan, I'm her boy.
