Rick McCarthy is a singer-songwriter, currently residing in Worcester, Massachusetts. Discovering his love of drumming early on, Rick began playing at 13. He has played -and continues to play- in many local bands throughout his career. He picked up a guitar for the first time years later, - in his 50's - and began teaching himself how to play. He wrote his first song about 10 years ago and has been at it since. His first CD, "Message of the Muse", was released in 2016, and his current release "What I See: Love, Music and Beauty" this year. He is currently working on a new CD, to be named later. For the 1st two CD's Rick engaged the musical talents of some of the best players in Central Massachusetts and beyond, including MIchelle Willson, Brooks Milgate, Jim and John Russo (The Russo Brothers), Guiliano D'Orazio, Lydia Fortune, Michael Harmon, Lori Zuroff, Lars Johnson, John Solaperto and many others. Besides writing and playing, Rick has been an on-air DJ for the NPR Jazz radio station WICN, 90.5, in Worcester (streaming at WICN.org) for the past ten years. He is currently the host of "The Blend", which airs Monday through Wednesday from Noon-3 (EST).
