Minimalist pioneer Terry Riley called Robert Davidson "a composer of extraordinary talent - the leading composer of his generation". Terry and Rob gigged together with Topology, Rob's band, whose collaborators also range from Geoffrey Rush to Katie Noonan to The Brodsky Quartet and madman math-drummer Grant Collins. Rob, head of composition at the University of Queensland, is currently brushing up on his piano skills and has been writing several albums worth of solo piano pieces to play, along with new orchestra, string quartet, guitar and electronic music. He loved writing choir music about Julia Gillard for the recent SBS doco on Australia's first female prime minister, "Strong Female Lead".
