Armed with a computer, a couple of synths and a field recorder, British designer and artist Jon Newton puts his own particular spin on electronica. After reading an article about the unlikely explosive potential of custard powder (go on, look it up!) the name Deadly Custard was chosen as a suitably bizarre name to attach to the project. Influences are wide and varied, from crunching textures synonymous with the likes of Jon Hopkins, to the 90's groove of David Holmes, or a majestic piano and orchestral work of Ólafur Arnalds. Nothing is off limits. In 2021, 'Somewhere' from his Gold Rush EP achieved Track Of The Week on local BBC Introducing, and Ocean from the same EP did one better being played by Jaguar on BBC Radio One's Introducing Dance show. In 2022 the single EVE, which garnered love from Deadmau5 during a twitch stream in 2020, also achieved Radio One Introducing Dance show recognition. In 2023 his rework of Max Cooper's 'A Model of Reality' was released as part of a reworks compilation stemming from the Mesh Label community.
