Vega Cortez (Born Julian Grier-Hill), December 27, 1989 Vega started rapping at the tender age of 8 years old. Due to the heavy music influence surrounding him, Julian knew that music was his passion. From the first time he heard Jay Z's song entitled "Hard Knock Life" he knew he definitely could tell his story. Coming from an unstable background of family life and many different foster homes, Jay Z’s music was relatable to a child with a sponge like brain in the jungle of Chicago. In addition to writing poetry at a young age... Vega started his performance life at St. Stephens M.B. Church Located on the southeast side of Chicago, singing and playing drums. "Vega" (a name chosen for his favorite fighter from Iconic video game series "Street Fighter" and his love for the "Garcia y Vega" cigarillo brand ) and "Cortez"(which is an derivative of his middle name Cordero). Vega chose to rap about real life issues, feelings and experiences instead of the emptiness brought on by a materialistic, selfish world portrayed by the music industry. Nowadays Vega Cortez is focusing on the release of his first anticipated EP entitled Welcome to the Redline as well as building his YouTube television show titled Kno Dat TV and film company K.O.B.K. films. With this, Vega is focused on building his personal brand of not being your typical rapper from Chicago, but instead Someone with much more desire and drive to show the world all he has to offer.
