Ildefons Alonso is a Catalan drummer and bandleader of “Metrinova” (Metrinova Vol.1, Underpool Records, 2016). He uses his graceful touch and inventive musicality to develop a deeply personal approach to composition and improvisation. His music explores the incorporation of rhythmic irregularities in order to pull the thread of the unconscious, and let emerge ideas and feelings that are waiting to enrich our musical experience. Along with Metrinova, Ildefons is touring around Catalonia and Spain with the outstanding Indie-Pop band “El Petit de Cal Eril”, developing the new duo project “TwinFormula”, that intertwines jazz, pop, electronics and improvisation. He is also collaborating with several London musicians such as Matt Anderson, Will Harris, Robin Porter, Greg Sanders and Rhys Lovell, and has released the EP November Mood with his UK quartet. Apart of his broad experience in classical percussion, a degree in classical piano and years of playing drums in jazz, pop and rock projects, Ildefons received a scholarship from Royal Academy of Music in London to complete a Masters degree in Jazz Percussion and Composition.
