Born in Venice, he studied composition with Adriano Guarnieri and conducting with Carlo Maria Giulini. Graduated in violin at the Conservatory G.Verdi in Milan, he later obtained his diploma in Geneva with Corrado Romano. After an intense period of concert activity, he devoted himself completely to composition and, in particular, to film music. In 1993 he participated in the XXI National Film Competition of Lastra a Signa, obtaining the absolute first prize for best soundtrack. He has collaborated with Pino Donaggio arranging and signing tracks for various films. Bandel also collaborated with New York singer Suzanne Vega, writing a new arrangement of the famous song "TOM'S DINER" for the commercial AGOS DUCATO. In 1989 he had the honor to write a song together with the great Astor Piazzolla entitled "Fantasia in RE" for the AAA Prologue by Aldo Pagani Editore. His piece "APOTEOSI" for chromatic harmonica and piano, became a must-have piece for the diploma examinations at the University of Singapore, together with other composers of the caliber of Villa-Lobos, Benjamin and Jacob. His Suite for cello and piano “LIFE”, is performed worldwide. In 2020, his composition "QUADRI" for piano, electric bass, drums and symphony orchestra (Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra), was included in the method for electric bass, DATABASS by Massimo Moriconi (the legendary bassist of the Italian singer Mina), as a didactic piece.
