L12 - Lamar Lee Acree (born February 20th) Grand Rapids, Michigan known professionally as “L12”, an American producer, exec. Producer, singer-songwriter, rapper, recording engineer & founder of ROYAL MIND SCHEME studio. L12 has always had a passion for music in his early years. At age 16, L12 began producing and recording for local artist in his low budget bedroom studio setup. It wasn’t until age 19 where he began taking his solo career serious. Growing up, he was introduced to artist like Prince, The Notorious B.I.G., Missy Elliott, Jon B., Ginuwine, Enigma, Earth, Wind, & Fire and more from his mother Tracy. There was always a variety of music being played in the house. Kendrick Lamar’s debut album “Good Kid, Maad City” inspired L12 to study the craft of writing and lyrics. His newer material has been said to have similarities to artist like The-Dream, J. Cole, Isaiah Rashad, ScHoolboy Q, Joey Bada$$, Tame Impala, & Sade. “My motivation for music comes from knowing how it brings people together. Music is the soundtrack to our lives. There’s memories in music. It’s nostalgic as we age. I love that. Whether I am producing, writing, performing, or collaborating on a track, the goal is to make the listener feel the energy that’s being put into the music.
