Trevor Gudkid is a dynamic and versatile artist with an eclectic sound. Originally from Ghana, where Afrobeat and Kumerican Drill reign, his musical journey began in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, blending the rhythms of funk, bossa nova, and hip-hop. Trevor’s unique style comes from his bilingual flow, rapping in both English and Portuguese, with touches of Pidgin and Twi, creating a truly distinctive musical voice. Since 2020, Trevor has released several singles and an EP titled Caso da Mãe (Meus Sentimentos), dedicated to his mother after she survived a life-threatening accident. In 2022, he won the Human Rights Award "Verador Renatinho" for his contribution to human rights and immigrant advocacy through his song "Justice," dedicated to a Congolese immigrant who was assaulted in Rio de Janeiro. Always addressing significant social issues, Trevor’s latest release, CURA (September 2023), in collaboration with Marciano, explores themes of self-acceptance, self-love, and community strength. The track also celebrates Black love and self-love as forms of deep connection and empowerment, affirming that “Black love, self-love, is the best of love.”
