Bates is a songwriter, vocalist, producer, and artist from Baltimore, MD. Raised in a musical household, Bates was initially influenced by watching his mother sing and his older brother rap over instrumentals. That along with the sounds of Motown, Lauren Hill, 90's Hip Hop, Soul, Rock and Pop music sparked his interest in the craft at the early age of eleven. He would spend countless hours writing, practicing, and immersing himself in things relevant to his destiny. By his teenage years, he was inspired to dedicate his life to his path and the craft religiously. During his high school years, he would save enough money to invest in a home recording setup. This allowed him to gain real working knowledge of his craft. As an artist, Bates has experienced different worlds of Hip Hop including competing in local talent shows as a solo artist and a member of a group, as well as freestyle rap battles on Baltimore's streets. Known for his aggression as well as finesse, Bates has as many styles as he has influences and experiences. Cafeteria battles, ciphers with other rappers, and group experiences have helped him develop into the artist that he is today. His wide range of musical influences range from Pop, Rock, R&B, Hip Hop, Soul, Roots Reggae, Gospel, and Blues. He describes his music as "Music For The Grassroots." His music is the embodiment of the sound and spirit of his city and the many styles of music that have been birthed by people of Afrikan descent in the Americas.
