Darnelle Lamar Buchanan, also known as Dernz was born and raised in Wolverhampton. He started writing poems when he 14 years old. He started experimenting with his poems and soon realised he could make songs out of them by the time he was 15. Using type beats related to his inspirations such as Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, xxxtentacion, Kanye West, Pharrell, J.Cole and more. Dernz recorded his first studio production song between 2016-2017. Dernz then released a Experimental tape called SOTT (Something On This Tape) in 2019 after releasing singles such as “FREEDOM”, “Dapocalypes” and “LEGO”. This tape was a display of his ability and confidence to try different styles and genres while on his journey to find his own sound. Dernz then released another single called “GluFlu” not long after SOTT came out. His love for traveling is an important factor to his work igniting his motivation and pushing his passion to new limits. He is truly a diamond in the rough to watch out for.
