Michelle Herrera, known as michi, is a Dominican-American singer-songwriter and producer born in Passaic, New Jersey, and currently based in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. She began posting covers on social media at 12 and, by 15, taught herself to producer and play guitar, piano, and ukulele. Growing up in the 2000s, michi was immersed in the unique era of pop and r&b of the late 90s and early 00s, which evidently influences her music and visual aesthetics today. She draws inspiration from artists like Ariana Grande, Kehlani, and SZA, while also paying homage to old-school icons such as Justin Timberlake, Aaliyah, and Mariah Carey, and legendary producers The Neptunes and Timbaland.
