Elyas Khan is a composer and performer, born in London. Nourished by an Indo-Pakistani heritage and an immersion (musical and theatrical) in the heart of the New York's artistic nebula (where he settled as a teenager), Elyas travels the roads of the world to produce his music, from New York in Bombay, from Berlin to Casablanca. "Primitive instrumentation and electronic chaos, soulful voice and sexy groove." His New York band NERVOUS CABARET enjoyed a fruitful 10 year international run releasing three records capped off by an American tour with Amanda Palmer. Gentlemen and Assassins a collaboration with Sxip Shirey and Brian Viglione (Dresden Dolls) brought continued critical acclaim. His solo album "Brawl in Paradise" recorded in Berlin Germany solidified his reputation as a true original as his single "Bells" made the charts in several territories and can be heard scoring several Films, theater productions and dance performances. Most recently his 5 year run with international hit circus show LIMBO as band leader/Arc Angel and as Musical Director for FREAKS, an original German Variety show, has kept him busy and his musical and performance chops as sharp as ever... Elyas Khan skilfully reconciles classic references like Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, and contemporary cousins such as David Byrne, Animal Collective or Caribou.
