Bent Fabricius-Bjerre (7 December 1924 – 28 July 2020), better known internationally as Bent Fabric, was a beloved Danish pianist and composer. Mr. Fabric’s lengthy career spanned hundreds of music compositions to well-known movies, theaters, musicals, ballets and TV-shows in Denmark. He was regarded as the “Grand Old Man” of Danish pop music, and his tunes are ingrained in Danish culture today. To the rest of the world, he was best known for “Alley Cat”, a simple and light piano composition, which won a Grammy Award in 1962. Mr. Fabric lived his life with an enormous curiosity and open-mindedness, which made him very relatable and young, even at an age of 95.
