A dynamic talent poised to take over the urban gospel scene in the Caribbean and beyond, artist and songwriter Jason “Radikal-One” Beaton crafts gospel songs that blend the sounds of hip-hop with dancehall. He creates songs with thoughtful lyrical themes that spread positivity and hope to the world. With the stage name Radikal-one, Jason believes he is a radical youth with a radical voice for Jesus; one meant to change lives, bring joy to the oppressed, and win souls for the kingdom. Jason was born in Reliance, a village on the Essequibo Coast of Guyana, and later moved to Hauraruni village with his parents when they decided to pursue the calling of God on their lives to become pastors. Jason “got saved” at an early age, but did not walk in the truth of his faith until years later. Living as the son of two preachers was not easy for him, but he found solace in music, both secular and gospel. For years he struggled with “preacher’s kid syndrome”; which expressed itself in radical, rebellious behaviors. It took the Lord speaking to him through a friend that he rededicated his life to Christ and began to explore music as a way to connect with others and express himself in a more meaningful way.  With David “Solid Youth” Yasin as his mentor, Jason quickly began drawing buzz for his high-energy gospel performances, he’s spent the past few years honing his craft and growing as an artist. He continues to evolve his immense talent while remaining true to himself.
