Colby Cushay, A 19-year-old recording artist, writer, and producer, Government name Colby Smith, hails from East Oakland, California. Currently residing and operating out of San Antonio, Texas, the Cali native’s love for music developed in the midst of domestic turmoil and internal strife. He honed his musicality as a daring act of escapism and in the early summer of 2019, Colby would be involved in the critically acclaimed debut release of local artist and longtime friend, Arizes Griffin Park Drive, a project that Earmilk writer, Tayo Odutayo, described as “heart felt (and) Personal”. Colby managed to garner writing and co-production credits while establishing himself in the SA based collective, Came from the Camp, a breeding grounds for local talent and creative visionaries. The ever eclectic artist delivers an emotionally rich listening experience with his use of gothic and carnal imagery coupled with unapologetic honesty.
