The Aspidistra Drawing Room Orchestra started as a group of friends and a folder of music. However, since the mid 1990s, we have steadily expanded our repertoire and continually hunt for new material, searching private collections, libraries and archives of various publishing houses. We travel extensively across Europe trying out an ever-increasing list of gems from the Palm Court era, often material that has been hidden in the archives for 100 years! It's amazing the amount of good music that has been forgotten or neglected. Aspidistra made their Radio debut on the BBC in 2002 for the radio play Tears of War on Remembrance Day. Our recordings were heard regularly on Brian Kay's light music programme and currently as background music for radio plays, also on The Producer Prince, a TV documentary based on interviews with Prince Alessandro Tasca di Cuto.
