Taking inspiration from the golden era of sound system culture, Vienna-based songwriter and producer Martin Proux aims to create a sound bearing the unique tonal aesthetics of 70s and 80s roots music. Soulful vocals, catchy hooks, and the driving rhythm of his debut single „To all the Youths“ blend into a mixture inviting listeners to sing along and dance in a trance-like state. Being exposed to classical music from an early age, Proux soon discovered singing and songwriting as a means to self-expression. Heavily influenced by artists like The Abyssinians, Peter Tosh and Lee scratch Perry he developed a passion for Black and Caribbean music––fragments of which one can hear in his current work.
