Darnell Stewart is an electronic music programmer with a few aliases that span across multiple musical genres. He has two main aliases that encompass most of his recognized work: Dakuan and DJ DanceAlone. As DJ DanceAlone, Mr. Stewart has landed multiple DJ residencies along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. As Dakuan, he has played multiple underground Techno festivals throughout the state of Tennessee. Both aliases have received radio airplay in various countries and have been featured on musical outlets such as: OoukfunkyOO, EELF, HATE Lab, XLR8R, Kiffen Beats and Hype Machine. Darnell’s Dakuan alias focuses on creating and Techno and IDM. With this alias, he challenges the palette of the typical Techno fan while keeping a mostly danceable vibe. DJ DanceAlone is his more open-ended alias that spans a broad selection of genres, but is most recognized for House music. Stewart’s major distinction is his method of music creation. While the overwhelming majority of electronic musicians write music using visually conventional music software, Darnell uses tracker software to write and record his music. This software takes away the visual aspect of the writing process. Through the use of many learned techniques and techniques that he has pioneered himself, Stewart truly brings a unique approach to electronic music.
