Dirty Snares is a New Era Boom Bap music producer. He draws inspiration from the “Golden Age” of hip hop and 70’s and 80’s Rnb. Growing up in Flint, Michigan and the early influence of J-Dilla helped curtail Dirty Snares production. Dirty Snares states that at the time he started producing music. He had no musical knowledge. He didn’t know about scales, tempo, chord progressions. However he study musical groups from the Temptations, Earth, Wind and Fire and The O’Jays. Technically he didn’t know what he was hearing but he knew their music made him feel a certain type of way. So with an mpc 2500, Dirty Snares started sampling music. From there he learned how the intricacies of major and minor keys could evoke certain emotions. Some of his inspirations include DJ Premier, J Dilla, 9th Wonder and Just Blaze to name a few.
