The composer and dj known as Stichie Don adopted his title from the regal Lieutenant Stichie, a prolific musician who conquered listeners with his story-telling abilities and crossover appeal. Like Lieutenant, Stichie Don is a man of many titles, using each talent to produce music that reaches out to people who can relate to real-life experiences. His aim is to revolutionize the way people listen to music when fused with DANCEHALL NEO-SOUL. Stichie Don whose real name is Neville Davis, grew up in Flatbush of the congested borough of Brooklyn, New York. Here Stichie embraced the musical collision of Hip-Hop and Reggae music as it unraveled around him. He found an interest in music at the early age of 11 and became a dancehall dj. He revered his step-father’s elaborate collection of 45 classics , sound cassette tapes and 7 inch records, noting the best in Reggae, Dancehall and R & B artists contemporary to the time. Every Sunday, Stichie would ride the church van from service to spend his tithe money on vinyl from top artists Ninja Man, Supercat, Shabba Ranks, and Buju Banton. The crate of black records soon grew to an elaborate bookshelf of music of all sorts. Rappers Rahkiem, Big Daddy Kane, Biggie Smalls and Nas joined the top influences behind Stichie’s music devotion as New York became a hub for beat boxing and break dancing.
