Juba II of Mauretania was a Berber king who was raised by Julius Caesar following the Roman conquest of Numidia, Juba went on to become one of Rome’s leading academics and leaders, marrying Cleopatra Selene, daughter of Cleopatra VII and Mark Antony. 
 More than 2000 years later, the ancestral legacy of Juba II lives on through French-Tunisian artist, Juba the Moor, who continues to captivate listeners with his intricate and intelligent lyrics (blending English, French, and Tunisian Derja) peppered over melodic afrobeats and hard-hitting freestyles. 
 Juba’s experience of life in the ‘banlieus’ of Tunis and Marseille is reflected in his sound, which evokes bleak images of government corruption, revolution, racism and poverty, contrasted by his formative years in the English Midlands.
