To date, the Music City-based artist has worked with heavies such as Niko Bolas (Neil Young, KISS, Prince), Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Stone Temple Pilots, R.E.M.), Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, Peter Buck of R.E.M. and Raul Malo of The Mavericks. Hailed as one of Cuba's hottest emerging artists, Hector was born to be a musician. Growing up under the spell of the Cuban 'feeling' music movement sung by his father, Héctor Téllez, an icon of Cuban 'bolero' singers of extraordinary popularity, Hector was also seduced by soul singers. Poring over scratchy bootlegged cassettes and CDs he ventured on a passionate and self-curated music journey, and discovered a love of blues and classic rock n’ roll. His cornerstone influences coalesced into Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Waters, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Buckley, and Leonard Cohen. At first, Hector set out to be a gunslinger guitar player practicing non-stop. But, soon he discovered the enhanced expressiveness in singing and writing his own songs.
