Born in the year 2000 in her parent's home town Kolkata, Anushka was swept up by the diaspora and raised in Zambia. From there emerged an eclectic personality that struggled with her ability to feel emotions a little more intensely than usual. As a means of catharsis she turned to the world of music as early as the age of 5 with dancing and singing. As she navigates the beginning of her music career, she drops her first single inspired by the name her parents used to call her Resham (silky) "Silky Slime(feat Mars-ZM and Yxng Daddah)”. Her Debut EP “FLOAT” was released shortly after as she experiments with different sounds and gets comfortable in the realm of music of the night scapes and daydreams. The next 2 pair of singles before and after “SILKY: PRIMADONNA” (Anushka’s 22’ Valentine Mixtape with trap influences ), are essentially an experiment in Versatility. The single released in February is an interlude-esque track, a sample of the different direction she takes in her sounds She finds herself being completely immersed in her multicultural musical influences. “Light it up” releases as Anushka comes out of her year long hiatus from being active in her Career, made in 2022, this release marks my first major project in two years, bringing a raw, abstract portrayal of my journey through a city where secrets are currency and betrayal is commonplace.
