Marc Meriläinen, the Toronto-based singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and all-around visionary better known as Nadjiwan is a member of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation. Transforming the sound of Indigenous music has been Nadjiwan’s goal from the very beginning, and his prodigious output has been recognized by many, including numerous award nominations and accolades. His newest album The Great Sea was inspired by and made in his hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario. A love letter to northern Ontario’s awe-inspiring landscape and its unique culture and life on the Northern Shore of Lake Superior. 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the Nadjiwan project, with new music coming soon!
