With his debut record "Imitation Fields," guitarist-composer Ben Garnett makes a distinct and vibrant entry as a solo artist into the world of American acoustic music. Blending traditions of string band, jazz, classical, electronica, and avant-garde, Garnett forges a sonic tapestry all his own. Produced by Chris Eldridge (Punch Brothers/Julian Lage & Chris Eldridge) and featuring fiddlers Brittany Haas (Hawktail/Crooked Still) and Billy Contreras, bassist Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers/Hawktail), banjoist Matthew Davis (Circus No. 9/Westbound Situation), and mandolinist Dominick Leslie (as well as a string quintet and additional guitar by Eldridge), "Imitation Fields" unites some of the acoustic scene’s most exciting and inventive players in service of a new musical vision. As side-person with Grammy®-nominated bassist Missy Raines (2017-present), and as the guitarist for progressive bluegrass band Circus No. 9 (2019-2022) , Garnett has performed all over North America, and in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
