Empress Athena is a Caribbean recording artist born November 24th, 1987 on the beautiful island of Barbados. Katrina Amanda Beckles started out singing at the age of 4 and later going on to be a part of her school choirs and orchestra at both primary and secondary school levels. At the age of 16 her hopes of pursuing a career in music came to a halt as she had to direct her focus towards her studies in nursing. Her love for music never faded but she knew she could make a difference as a nurse; where she excelled. Fast forward to 2016 when she met producer & CEO of Dark Room Recordings; Kurvpt. He immediately saw her talents as a writer and versatile singer and worked closely with her to help find that spark to get her interested in music again. He gave her an opportunity and enrolled her into a music development program called Writers Block which helped her do develop her writing skills as well as gain confidence in herself as an artiste. Athena's first studio release was an upbeat sweet soca track entitled "Feeling Free", which was released in the summer of 2017. Since then she has featured on tracks such as "Wine Pon Me" by @Kurvpt also featuring Sid as well as another soca single entitled "Addicted". Although she has a newfound love for making music she still continues to do her duties as a nurse and is currently enrolled in a 4 year programme for a bachelor's degree in general nursing.
