Music for the soul Born in Australia, brought up in Madeira and being part of an English / German family, Maya Blandy has created her own unique and diverse sound. Growing up in the small island of Madeira, Maya has blended her multicultural experiences into a unique sound that blend jazz soul and disco. Over the years, Maya's interest for the nuanced and poetic qualities of Portuguese literature mixed with her love for the nature that surrounds her homeland have allowed her to develop into an interesting lyricist. Whilst studying Music at the University of Manchester, Maya came together with her dad's life long friend Jake Wherry - founding member of The Herbaliser - and since then have been working together to create truly authentic musical experiences.
