Biography

Paul Houdijk (1953-2019) graduated at the conservertoire of Utrecht in 1981. Subsequently he did a Phd in Dutch law at the university of Nijmegen and in 1988 he acheived a Phd music sciences at the University of Utrecht. After his time at the conervertoire he continued having lessons with Albert de Klerk. Paul Houdijk was engaged with nineteenth century in general and Maarschalkerweerd and son organ builders in particular. At his organ concerts the emphasis was on the romantics of the nineteenth century. Between 1990 and 2010 he was national chairman of the society for Catholic conductors and organists (KDOV) and from 1978-2019 he was organist at the cathedral of St. Catharina in Utrecht.
