Michela Amici loves to explore the connection between early and contemporary music. Equally at home playing historical as well as modern harps, she performs as soloist, chamber musician and basso continuo player. Michela was artist in residency at the Dutch festivals Gaudeamus (New Notes) and Dag in de Branding (New Makers). She premiered new compositions written for her by Aspasia Nasopoulou, Boris Bezemer, Karmit Fadael and Amarante Nat. Recent performances include international festivals such as Dutch Harp Festival, World Harp Congress, November Music, Gaudeamus, Dag in de Branding, Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam, Grachten Festival, Ravenna Festival, Klangspuren Schwaz and Festiwal Rezonanse. Michela studied at the Conservatory G. Rossini of Pesaro (IT), at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague (NL), and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (CH). Her teachers include Ernestine Stoop, Christina Pluhar and Flora Papadopoulos. Michela performs on a Lyon & Healy style 30 pedal harp, a triple harp by Dario Pontiggia, and a bray harp by Eric Kleinmann. www.michela-amici.com
