Biography

Best remembered for his Texas garage rock classic, "Dance Franny Dance", the Floyd Dakil Combo went on to record a number of regional swamp pop hits including "Bad Boy", "Bogged Down In The Bayou" and "Shiver". Recorded at Dallas nightspot, the Pit, in 1964, by the short-lived Floyd Dakil Combo, "Dance Franny Dance", reached the sixtieth slot on a "top sixty" chart compiled by a San Francisco radio station. Originally released on the Dallas-based Jet Star label, it was re-issued nationally on the Guyden label. Its' inclusion in compilations on Texas rock has become essential. Lead guitarist/vocalist Dakil had previously performed with jump jazz singer Louis Prima. He went on to record three singles with the Floyd Dakil Four. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
