Ramiro Barrios was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Graduated from the Superior Conservatory of Music of the City of Buenos Aires "Astor Piazzolla", where he also teached as assistant at guitar clinics. He studied with Ricardo Ozán, Gustavo Suarez, Pino Marrone, Miguel Tarzia, Guillermo Romero, and in clinics with Herbie Hancock, Sid Jacobs, Lee Konitz, Paul Wertico, Violeta de Gainza, Carlos López Puccio, Jacques Morelembaum, Ricardo Cavalli, Jonathan Kreisberg and Wayne Krantz.
