Londinium, conducted by Andrew Griffiths, is one of London’s most versatile and accomplished non-professional chamber choirs, particularly noted for vibrant performances of a cappella repertoire. It has established a strong reputation for diverse, imaginative and eclectic programming across the centuries, with an emphasis on unjustly neglected or rarely performed works. Following the success of its debut recording of twentieth-century English choral music, 'The Gluepot Connection' (SOMM Recordings, March 2018), Londinium released an album of choral music by Kenneth Leighton, 'Every Living Creature' (SOMM Recordings, May 2023), including five premiere recordings, to further critical acclaim, including selection as a Gramophone Critics’ Choice for 2023. ‘Andrew Griffiths secures a splendidly fervent, finely disciplined rendering from his assembled forces, one that fills a major gap in the Leighton discography ... gloriously assured and superbly committed performances ... a most rewarding issue’ (Gramophone). In addition to its regular concert season in central London, Londinium has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, the Natural History Museum, the Old Vic Tunnels and on BBC Radio 3’s 'In Tune'. In March 2023 the choir was the chorus in Sir Harrison Birtwistle’s ‘The Fields of Sorrow’ for the London Sinfonietta’s Southbank Centre acclaimed tribute to the composer, conducted by Martyn Brabbins. www.londinium-voices.org.uk
