Mikey242 is a Bahamian rap artist born and raised in Freeport, Grand Bahama. Growing up, he had a passion for hip-hop and drew inspiration from artists like Drake, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, and Kanye West, among others. During his school years, he was always curious about the idea of being an artist. However, this journey didn't begin until he went overseas to college in New York in 2017. He officially began picking up the microphone publicly with audiences in 2020 in college in New York, working closely with his friend, who is also a Bahamian artist, producer, and DJ, K9. Mikey242 originally went by his childhood nickname, Mikey, featuring on K9's afrobeat mixtape Island Vibez, Vol. 1, featuring its hit single, So Many Girls. He later released his single, Bet On Myself, in 2020, changing his sound toward the hip-hop culture and started to gain attention in his hometown with the main line being, "Took a chance, had to bet it on myself." Mikey242 earned a lot of confidence through creating music and is now known for his introspective lyrical, catchy flows while setting the tone and being relatable. Over the time, he's worked with many artists, such as TFE Sheedo, 50 Shades, VAV and other upcoming artists. Mikey242 has only scratched the surface on what is to come.
