Lou Rogai is an artist, songwriter, and composer. He also works under the name Lewis & Clarke, producing a signature sound of long-form art-folk. He has performed throughout North America and Europe and has released an array of albums, EPs, and singles. His work has been lauded by major music publications and in heavy rotation on NPR's 'All Things Considered' for over a decade. Rogai became immersed in the instrumental aspect of storytelling while scoring The Wreck (Music from the Motion Picture) (Cannes Official Selection - Court Métrage 2014). He explored further territories in instrumental music as a guest artist at SITI Company’s annual training intensives, creating improvisational music for theater alongside inspiring collaborators. His first string quartet, Implications in D Major; an Adagio for Chamber Strings (2018), was featured on WNYC’s 'New Sounds' (episode 4127: “Idiosyncratic Chamber Music”). His latest composition, Cathedral (Veriditas Recordings, 2019), is an experimental elegy for chamber ensemble in three movements. All Around Sound describes 'Cathedral' as “a beautiful and meditative piece of art that surprises and delights.” The album’s B-side contains Rogai’s orchestral score and theme of the short film Essere Amato (2018). He is currently at work composing, recording, and producing. He lives and works in Pennsylvania, USA, near a river between two mountains.
