Ehsan Abdipour is the most famous Iranian player of the sorna flute. The sorna was used 2,500 years ago in Achaemenid Iran to play at the end of the day from the city gate or the local administrative building. The sound of the sorna (“strong flute”) is unique and is usually played in traditional, very fast arrangements, perfect for dancing.
