A.E.Charles was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in Stone Mountain which is a suburb 30 minutes outside of Atlanta. Since he was a child he loved creative writing and wrote many short stories.He started writing poetry in the 8th grade for a school project. When he started college at the University of West Georgia in 2010, he was inspired to write poetry again by listening to rappers like Drake, Wale, and J.Cole. Soon after he started writing again he also was encouraged by friends to perform his poems at Java Monkey Cafe's open mic night in Decatur, GA. This slowly lead to him doing more spoken word videos and recording his poems and turning them into songs.
