"It's Always Been You" (July 19th 2024) is in essence a series of photographs. Each capture a moment of significant change; in the world around me, in my methods of composition, and internally. I could write endlessly about each choice made, break down all the details, but ultimately it is about the unfurling of you. The perpetual realization of a further all encompassing "you". Sounds throughout the album deteriorate and die but each death is a birth, like a dandelion letting go of its seeds in the wind. It is also a love note to my partner, nearly all of the love on the album originates with them. It's a shedding scorpion, a pile of dust, a thousand sceneries on the edge of your memory, and the blooming flower at the center. ~ Estle's compositions exhibit a jubilant sense of play and excitement. Moments often resemble plunging through memory fragments which split and morph before you can completely trace their outlines. They harness a balance of serenity and intensity via bright synth harmonies and intricate high-frequency textures. ASMR, trance, hyper-prog, bubblegum pop, are pushed to their limits in surreal atmospheres throughout Estle's pieces. Generative processing, meticulous sound sculpture, field recording, acoustic instrumentation, vocal stretching; Estle drapes the listener in immersive sonic environments that gently dissolve boundaries between the yearning for moments lost to time, and the appetite to propel oneself forward.
