Biography

MIYAVI is a musician, actor, and philanthropist, bridging cultures across the globe with his music and message. His unique style of guitar playing has taken him on 8 world tours in over 30 countries. Fans refer to MIYAVI as the “Samurai Guitarist.” 
 In 2018, MIYAVI released the groundbreaking collaborations album Samurai Sessions Vol. 3: Worlds Collide featuring a stellar list of U.S.-based collaborators including Oscar-nominated actor Samuel L. Jackson, Grammy nominee Gallant, Grammy nominee Mikky Ekko, Grammy winning producer RAC, R&B songstress Yuna, rapper DUCKWRTH, and pop artist Betty Who. Chart topping Japanese artists featured on the album included SHISHIDO KAVKA, Daichi Miura, Miliyah, Kreva, AK-69, and a posthumous collaboration with singer-guitarist hide (X Japan). He kicked off the release of his next record NO SLEEP TILL TOKYO with a concert at Dodgers Stadium followed by the 2020's Holy Nights. MIYAVI made his big screen debut in the Oscar nominated film Unbroken. He has appeared in several films including blockbusters Kong:Skull Island, Bleach and Maleficent 2. MIYAVI has appeared as the face of Beats in Japan and on billboards worldwide in Moncler’s Beyond campaign. He is a brand ambassador for American Airlines, Rakuten Mobile and BMW. He was selected to Fender’s Next campaign and starred in a Gucci campaign along side Lil Nas X and actress Jane Fonda. MIYAVI walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week, modeling designer Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 collection.
