For more than forty years, Contrechamps has specialized in the interpretation, creation and dissemination of 20th and 21st century instrumental music. The Ensemble is committed to decompartmentalize and highlight the diversity of aesthetics and agents of the contemporary and experimental scene. Since its creation in 1977, Contrechamps has worked closely with a large number of composers, conductors and artists. We can cite Rebecca Saunders, Pierre Boulez, Chiyoko Szlavnics, Christine Sun Kim, Michael Jarrell, Jacques Demierre, Abril Padilla, Heinz Holliger, Elena Schwarz, Vimbayi Kaziboni, Pierre-Laurent Aimard or Donatienne Michel-Dansac among many others. Contrechamps is developing new presentation formats: installation concerts, radio concerts, research laboratories or virtual tours. Recognized for his work and invited to international stages, Contrechamps attends the Festival d'Automne in Paris, the Salzburg Festival, MaerzMusik in Berlin, the Lucerne Festival, the Venice Biennale or the ICA in London. The Ensemble collaborates with many partners in Geneva including La Bâtie, Archipel, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Ensemble Vide, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Am Stram Gram Theatre, the ADC, the cave12 or the Saint Pierre Cathedral. The Swiss stages of the Gare Du Nord in Basel, Tohnalle Tohnalle Maag in Zurich or the Arsenic Theatre in Lausanne are also regular partners.
