Having performed as a DJ since 2001, over the past few years Hugo Branco has mainly composed and performed music/sound within the contexts of live electronic improvisation and sound design for multimedia installation, video and the scenic arts. He is currently A&R for the VIC NIC label and artistic director of VIC // Aveiro Arts House —a creative ecosystem that combines arts centre, guesthouse and arts residency, periodically hosting exploratory concerts, new media, performance, cinema and literature shows. Invited speaker at several international conferences about sound, art and technology, Hugo Branco frequently works as cultural programmer/curator of music, new media and sound art for both small underground festivals and larger-scale institutional events.
