Biography

If you know Briana Harris, you probably know her as a saxophonist. The Northern Colorado musician has carved a place in the scene over the past decade primarily as a freelance horn player. So it might be surprising to learn that Bri’s debut album as a leader doesn’t feature saxophone at all. Instead, it’s a personal and expansive exploration that features Harris as lead vocalist and chief songwriter. "When We’re Found" features 10 tracks that stretch across pop, jazz, folk, and alternative musical influences. “I’ve always written songs throughout my life,” Harris explains, “but in the depths of winter of February 2020, I started a consistent songwriting practice as a way to process a time of intense growth and change. As everything in the world shifted that next spring when COVID-19 hit and the live music industry was turned upside down, writing songs served as a lifeboat that kept me afloat. It tethered me to my own creative life while enduring waves of uncertainty, hope, grief, and joy.” Harris’s eclectic musical background is balanced with a clear central message: she's ready to be fully seen and heard. “These songs are all personal and confessional in some way,” she says. “I’m working through ideas about myself, my ambitions, my anxieties, my past, my future, and the people I love. And rather than be ashamed of any of it, I’m trying to invite people in to see it all. I want to be found, as open and authentic as possible.”
