Biography

Felipe Senna is a German/Brazilian composer based in São Paulo (Brazil). Acclaimed as “one of the most talented and promising composers of his generation” (Julio Maria-O Estado de S.Paulo), his music extends from his own roots in Brazilian traditions to chamber, theatrical and symphonic creations performed around the world by leading orchestras, prestigious festivals and theatres. His Opera Café, on a libretto by celebrated modernist Mario de Andrade, was commissioned and premiered by the Sao Paulo Municipal Theatre, the main opera house in Brazil. Senna was awarded 1st Prize at the Camargo Guarnieri Composition Competition (2007), at the Biennial of Brazilian Contemporary Music (2021) and nominated for the Golden Eye (Zurich Film Festival); he has seemingly endless credits as arranger, orchestrator, conductor, music director and producer, alongside important names of Brazilian music, such as Grammy winners Nailor Proveta, Filó Machado, Amilton Godoy, Airto Moreira and Edu Ribeiro. Senna is the founder and artistic director of the groundbreaking Câmaranóva ensemble, with which he released his first album Câmara Brasileira (2023), “a new classic of Brazilian music – one of the best things you’ve ever listened to” (J. Bittencourt, Forum Magazine) and also SENNA6, currently on tour with their album “Musicotrópole”.
