Biography

Gabriel Schwartz is a Brazilian musician and composer based in Montreal since 2018, where he recently accomplished a master degree in Music Composition at University of Montreal. Born in Curitiba-Brazil, Gabriel Schwartz has 20 years of experience at the “Wind Instruments Orchestra” as a saxophonist, flutist, arranger, and assistant conductor. Furthermore, he works with several groups where he interprets Brazilian Music, specially Choro. In 1998 he started the “Trio Quintina”, at the same time he started the undergraduate program in Flute at the EMBAP (School of Music and Arts of Paraná). Today the “Trio Quintina” has a discography with 6 CDs, 2 DVDs and a BOX triple of 15 years celebration, besides the “Orquestra à Base de Sopro de Curitiba” has 3 CDs and 3 DVDs, some with famous artists like André Mehmari, Arrigo Barnabé, Gabriele Mirabassi and Léa Freire. Besides, he founded “Variedades contemporâneas”, group of modern choro with which he launched 1 Cd, 1 DVD, and participated at some important festivals like the Savassi Jazz Festival. Currently, Gabriel presents his Solo Project as a multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer, with a repertoire based on Brazilian music influenced by Jazz and World music.
