Daniel Waya or by his stage name ‘YM1300’ is an Artist that was born on Feb 20th 2003 in London, England and five years after birth, was moved to Abuja, Nigeria. As a child Daniel’s mother was very keen on him learning all sorts of instruments and sounds that pertain to music, at such a young age Mr. Waya gained an enormous amount of passion for the art of Music and started writing his own lyrics after receiving inspiration from Artists like Kanye West. Daniel officially wrote his first song at the age of 10 called ‘Young Love’. He started off as an r & b singer in which he enjoyed but felt like he didn’t really strive in due to him not having the suitable voice for an R&B singer. As the years progressed his passion for writing music decreased but his passion for listening increased, he started listening to all sorts of genres from spoons, r&b, soul, hip/hop, pop, grm, edm etc. Although Daniel listened to a lot he preferred hip hop and felt like that was where he could relate to the most, Kanye still being his favourite artist till today made a huge impact on his music life because he taught him diversity was key. At the age of 12 Daniel decided to get back into writing but this time it was writing raps. He wanted to take things seriously and started making music so he gained interest in production such as mixing and mastering and taught himself how to use compressors and equalisers, it is very evidential that 1300 has mastered the art of production and it shows in his music.
