Described as "refined, modern classical minimalism" (Vital Weekly, Netherlands), Syrian-American composer Nicholas Chase’s music has been hailed as "hymn-like" (Percorsi Musicali, Italy), "other-worldly" (Exposé, US), "expansive, exploratory and mischievous" (Eugene Weekly, US), and by Strad Magazine (UK) as "brilliant." The Los Angeles Times has praised his performances as "flamboyant," and "the Rite of Spring meets Metallica," and, dubbing him an 'Eye/Ear Explorer,' LA Weekly writes, "the human brain at its most imaginative."His concert music has been compared to Harold Budd and Erik Satie, and to one of his mentors Morton Subotnick, while his pop music has been likened to Nico. Cold Blue Music has released two albums of Chase’s music: Nicholas Chase: Bhajan and Tiny Thunder . As a performer Chase has been described as "a modern-day Dada-ist" (Textura, US), performing on music stand, mannequin limbs, lying inside a piano, on a bicycle—and more traditionally as a vocalist, and as a solo pianist—on the instrument keys.
